Joseph Colomb, great-grandfather of the current owner, Patricia Grelot-Colomb, creates L'Espérance Colomb in Huez: a village café that becomes an inn before creating the first place to welcome skiers with a guest room heated by the sheepfold.
A deep-rooted family history.
Joseph Colomb, great-grandfather of the current owner, Patricia Grelot-Colomb, creates L'Espérance Colomb in Huez: a village café that becomes an inn before creating the first place to welcome skiers with a guest room heated by the sheepfold.
Joseph Colomb's son, Clotaire, and his grandson, Hubert, built the Grandes Rousses hotel on the current site of Alpe d'Huez. The hotel was run by Hubert and his wife Juliette until 2005. Together with their two daughters, Patricia and Nadine, they developed a unique sense of hospitality and never ceased to innovate. Management of the hotel was then entrusted to a tenant-manager while Juliette decided to open a more intimate hotel; Le Printemps de Juliette.
Patricia Grelot-Collomb takes over the reins and decides to resurrect this family institution for good. Each autumn sees a new phase of work: restructuring of the north wing, renovation of the bedrooms, reconfiguration of the bathrooms and the L'Espérance restaurant, creation of the Spa des Alpes, restructuring of the Aux Grands Rouges bar, the lobby and the reception area. In 2016, the establishment proudly hung a fourth star on its façade.
Construction of the extension which opens its doors in November 2019: Les Petites Rousses with its 44 new rooms and suites, VIP chalets and second restaurant La Ferme d'Hubert.
The fifth star rewards years of work and renovation for this family-run hotel, which has retained its Alpine chalet spirit: easy to live with, intergenerational, cosy and warm.
Opens the way to new projects, with the environment and people at the heart. Grandes Rousses Hotel & Spa offers a unique experience: Alpinothérapie®, which capitalises on the fundamental elements of the mountains. A programme combining physical and spiritual activities, body therapies at the Spa des Alpes and Alpine cuisine at La Ferme d'Hubert. The story continues to be one of immersion in the heart of the mountains, supported by the luxury of simplicity.
